Quincy University’s Gray Gallery will host the annual Baccalaureate Retrospective, April 18 – May 14, with an artist reception on Sunday, May 1, from 2 – 3:30 p.m. This exhibit is free and open to the public.

The exhibition presents a retrospective of each graduate’s growth and artistic development. Students exhibiting in the show select their best works from a variety of media with a focus on an area of particular interest.

Students presenting works are Gibson Moncel, from Mattoon, Ill., majoring in graphic design and Kori Kay Obert, from Quincy, Ill., majoring in graphic design and minoring in communications.

The baccalaureate show is the capstone of the senior experience through which an art major makes the transition from student to professional.  Each candidate prepares a comprehensive portfolio of work, assessing strengths and areas for improvement. The students participate in a senior seminar that enables each to focus on particular facets of development as an artist. During the final semester, the students collaborate to plan a professional show, design the display area, prepare publicity, develop the catalog and arrange a reception.   Finally, each artist presents their portfolio to a panel of art professionals and professors for review and critique.
